for over forty years.
As a Communications Professor for
major universities, Dr. Johnny Miller,
keynote speaker, and inspirational
speaker, has inspired many golfers
to move up to the PGA ranks. Specifically,
Dr. Johnny Miller watched KSU golfers
David Moreland, Jon Miles and Ben
Curtis move up to the PGA Tour.

After walking a round at the Firestone
Country Club with the late Bob Hope,
Dr. Johnny Miller heard him say "If
you watch it, it's fun. If you play
it, it's recreation. If you work at
it, it's golf."
Dr. Johnny Miller said: "That
in order to be successful in golf,
people need to be consistent, maintain
their focus and enthusiasm for the
game from the beginning of the round
to the end."
Dr. Johnny Miller also said: "Golf
is a great barometer of how people
will behave in the workplace. A person
who is pleasant and honest on the
golf course will usually be the same
way in their business."
Playing golf is not only physically
good for you, it releases powerful,
natural, mood enhancing drugs called
endorphins into your bloodstream.
As long as you don't strive to play
with PGA Pro-like perfection, just
having a stroll in the open air and
enjoying a round of golf with your
friends will make you feel better.
Golf offers a mental challenge. You're
always thinking when playing golf,
whether it's counting shots, working
out your score, or just calculating
yardages and club selection. All that
mental exercise is good for you.
Golf is a social game, a chance to
get to know someone better, that's
one important reason why so many business
people play golf. A round of golf
can take about four hours allowing
individual differences to disappear
as playing the game becomes the common
focus. Most golfers play with family
or friends but most are happy to join
up with a single golfer to make a
group of three or four.
Golf is the great equalizer - it's
handicapping system is designed in
such a way that enables the new golfer
to play competitively against the
highly skilled. There are not many
sports where you can compete fairly
against the super star!
The etiquette and rules of golf encourage
care and respect of others and the
course. It teaches young people good
values and there are many life lessons
in the game of golf that very unique
to the game.
